On March 22, 2024, Cyfle Building Skills proudly joined in celebration at the Apprenticeship Awards Cymru 2024 to support our esteemed members, TRJ. The evening was a fantastic celebration recognising the accomplishments of individuals, employers, and work-based learning practitioners across seven categories, including the prestigious Medium Employer of the Year award.

TRJ, a highly respected construction firm based in Ammanford, was established by former apprentice T. Richard Jones in 1935 and continues to thrive 89 years later. Rooted in an apprenticeship success story, TRJ remains committed to fostering apprenticeships, ensuring a steady flow of construction talent into Southwest Wales.

With a workforce of 160, including 16 apprentices, TRJ also collaborates with around 100 local subcontractors. Over the last five years, the company has welcomed 43 apprentices, actively supporting both shared apprenticeships and traditional apprenticeship programmes facilitated by CCTAL and us here Cyfle Building Skills.

Through TRJ's unwavering dedication in championing apprenticeships, nine former apprentices have risen to management or supervisory roles within the company, laying testament to the opportunities they provide to the next generation.

Lynette Daniels, our training manager, said:

"Attending the Apprenticeship Awards Cymru was an honour, especially as we stood in support with our esteemed members, TRJ. The evening was a testament to the dedication and success of those who champion apprenticeships.

"It's a pleasure to collaborate with such an outstanding company like TRJ, which shares our passion for offering both traditional and shared apprenticeships to empower the future generation in the construction industry."
